94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command to Conduct THAAD/PatriotTraining Exercise on Tinian and Rota

Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawai’i and Joint Region Marianas, Guam – The 94th Army Air
and Missile Defense Command (AAMDC) and Joint Region Marianas are dedicated to the defense and safety of our citizens and allies in the Inda-Pacific region. To exercise emerging capabilities, the Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery assigned to the defense of Guam is deploying a THAAD Remote Launch package consisting of one THAAD launcher along with one patriot launcher, and associated personnel and equipment to Rota and at Tinian the system will be deployed to the Military Leased Area in the CNMI from July 13, 2023 to July 18, 2023.. C-17 Globemaster III aircraft from the 15th Wing based out of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawai’i will move the equipment from Andersen Air Force Base in Guam to Rota and Tinian islands. The equipment, which does not have any munitions inside of them, will only be on the two islands for the duration of the exercise.

Child Care Providers Attend School Age Care Environmental Rating Scale Training Series

Evergreen Learning Coach, Erlaine Evangelista, conducted a three hour training cohort series on the  School Age Care Environmental Rating Scale Updated Version (SACERS-U). The sessions were scheduled  over three Saturdays – June 10, 17, and 24. Six afterschool providers from three different child care centers in  Saipan attended this cohort.  

USDOL Approves CNMI 2023 Prevailing Wage Report

The US Department of Labor has approved the CNMI’s 2023 Prevailing Wage Study Report for the CW-1 visa program. Effective from July 1, 2023, until June 30, 2024, the new wages will be implemented for CW-1 determinations.

Childcare Providers Complete Infant/Toddler Environment Rating Scale Training

Providers from centers subsidized by the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) completed the training for precautions in transporting children. This training was facilitated by Evergreen Learning Quality Care Specialist Maricar I. Pena. It meets the required 12 health and safety topics all providers must complete and was made possible through funding from the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Child Care, CNMI CCDF program under the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs.

NAP: Updates to Drive-Through and Walk-In Services

Based on the World Health Organization’s announcement declaring that it no longer considers COVID-19 as a global health emergency and the CNMI Governor’s Directive Order 2023-005 – Rescission of Directive No. 2021-002, the CNMI Nutrition Assistance Program (NAP) will continue distributing monthly benefits through drive-through and walk-in services at its As Lito office within the first five working days of the month beginning on July 3rd, 2023, from 8AM to 3PM.

CNMI Operation Wellness

CNMI “Operation Wellness” will be providing the following services at no cost to the community from July 12 through 20, 2023. Military Personnel will offer the following services:

US and CNMI Flags Lowered to Half-Staff in Honor of the Life and Service of Honorable Candido “Candy” Taman

In deep respect for the passing of the Honorable Candido “Candy” B. Taman, I hereby order that the flag of the Commonwealth, together with the flag of the United States of America, are to be flown at half-staff at the Juan Atalig Sablan Memorial Building and upon all public buildings, instrumentalities, and grounds within the Commonwealth until the sunset of the day of his interment.

Lieutenant Governor David M. Apatang, together with Delbert T. Pua, Special Assistant for the Office of Youth Affairs, recently proclaimed October 2024 as Youth Empowerment Month. The proclamation was made in the presence of members of the Legislature, Cabinet officials, and community partners, all united in their commitment to improving the lives of our youth.
