As Super Typhoon Mawar continues to move away from the CNMI, Governor Arnold I. Palacios has declared “All Clear” for Rota. The “All Clear” declaration was earlier announced at 5:00p.m. for Saipan and Tinian.
As Super Typhoon Mawar tracks away from the CNMI, Governor Arnold I. Palacios has CANCELED typhoon conditions for Rota. Furthermore, an “All Clear” condition has been declared for Saipan and Tinian.
Although Typhoon Mawar continues to move away from the Marianas, winds and rain associated with the storm continue to persist. As such, Governor Arnold I. Palacios has MAINTAINED Typhoon Condition I for Rota. Tropical Storm conditions for Saipan and Tinian have been CANCELED. The “All Clear” declaration is anticipated to be announced later today.
As of 2:00 p.m. today, Governor Arnold I. Palacios, in consultation with the CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) and the National Weather Service (NWS Guam) Weather Forecast Office (WFO), has maintained Typhoon Condition I for Rota and Tropical Storm Condition I for the islands of Saipan, and Tinian.
I, Arnold I. Palacios, pursuant to the authority vested in me as Governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands by Section 10 of Article III of the CNMI Constitution, and in consultation with CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management, hereby declare a State of Emergency for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, and I am ordering the activation of the State Emergency Operations Plan throughout the Commonwealth.
Governor Arnold I. Palacios this afternoon announced that U.S. President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., has approved the CNMI’s request for a Presidential Emergency Declaration to further support the Commonwealth’s emergency response to Typhoon Mawar and recovery efforts.
As of 2:00 p.m. today, Governor Arnold I. Palacios, in consultation with the CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) and the National Weather Service (NWS Guam) Weather Forecast Office (WFO), has upgraded the declaration for Rota to Typhoon Condition I and declared Tropical Storm Condition I for the islands of Saipan, and Tinian.
On May 22, 2023, a Declaration of Significant Emergency and State of Major Disaster was declared for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. On this basis and pursuant to the Consumer Disaster Price Freeze Act, a price freeze is hereby declared.
