Expanding Workforce Capacity

Governor Arnold Palacios and Lt. Governor David Apatang were joined recently by CNMI Department of Labor Secretary in meeting with the U.S. Department of Labor District Director of the Wage & Hour Division Terence J. Trotter, the U.S. Department of Labor Assistant District Director for Guam and the CNMI Patrick G. Candoleta, and the U.S. Department of Labor Wage & Hour Division Investigator Feng Daniel Wang to sign a memorandum of understanding. 

The purpose of the MOU is to re-establish the relationship between both agencies in sharing information on training and labor opportunities. Goals of the MOU include helping unemployed individuals transition back into the workforce, presenting additional opportunities in acquiring skill sets and certifications through training, and uplifting the people of the Commonwealth in general.

The MOU asserts that the U.S. Department of Labor and the CNMI Department of Labor will continue to collaboratively work towards more employment opportunities for the people of the Commonwealth.

Empowering the Youth, Shaping the Future

Lieutenant Governor David M. Apatang, together with Delbert T. Pua, Special Assistant for the Office of Youth Affairs, recently proclaimed October 2024 as Youth Empowerment Month. The proclamation was made in the presence of members of the Legislature, Cabinet officials, and community partners, all united in their commitment to improving the lives of our youth.
