We Will Never Forget: Field of Heroes Proclamation

Governor Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Governor David M. Apatang recently honored the first responders that sacrificed their lives on September 11, 2001, and the brave men and women who risk their lives on a daily basis to keep the community safe in a proclamation designating September 2023 as “  “We Will Never Forget: Field of Heroes” month.

The 22nd commemoration of September 11, 2001, held at the Francisco C. Adai International Airport, was organized by the Tan Siu Lin Foundation. The event was attended by members of several law-enforcement agencies, including  Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the Commonwealth Ports Authority (CPA), the Department of Public Safety (DPS), the Department of Corrections (DOC), the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFEMS), Customs Border Patrol (CBP), the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) and other agencies and organizations.

Reflecting back on 9/11, Governor Palacios stated that “we witnessed courage not in capes but in these [law enforcement] uniforms.” In his remarks, Lt. Governor Apatang took a moment of silence to pray for the surviving families of fallen heroes. He then ended with “peace and freedom come with a sacrifice that can never be returned.”
