Governor Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Governor David M. Apatang joined the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation as they broke ground for their Isley Field and Obyan Wells Granular Activated Carbon Water Filtration System Construction Project, which will break down chemicals (human-made substances) in our water that are not naturally found in the environment.
CUC Board Chair Ms. Janice Tenorio and Governor Palacios both emphasized the importance of water to the community. CUC provides water to almost 70% of the community and this filtration system will keep the water clean.
Also in attendance were CUC Executive Director Betty Terlaje, CUC Chief Engineer Larry Manacop, CUC Project Manager Dennis Formalejo and Junior Engineer Mark Liban.
The $2.1 Million Project was funded by the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration and the U.S. Department of Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs.
