Enforcement of Curfew Laws

Pursuant to Directive 2020-05 by Governor Ralph DLG. Torres, the CNMI Department of Public Safety (DPS), will be strictly enforcing curfew laws for minors (under the age of 18) throughout the three municipalities (Saipan, Tinian and Aguiguan, and Rota) of the Commonwealth subject to 10 CMC § 3313, 10 CMC § 2703, and 10 CMC § 1503 of the Commonwealth Code.

CNMI CANNABIS COMMISSION ADOPTS EMERGENCY REGULATIONS

The adoption of emergency rules and regulations for the CNMI Cannabis Commission (“Commission”) was unanimously passed during the Commission meeting held on March 10, 2020. Pursuant to 1 CMC § 9104(b), the emergency regulations, with concurrence of the Governor, will be effective for a period of not longer than 120 days.

Governor Torres requests banks to grant deferments for residents during economic downturn

On Monday, Governor Ralph DLG. Torres wrote letters to all CNMI banks respectfully requesting them to consider providing a three-month grace period for all loans, mortgages, promissory notes, and other monetary obligations owed from residents on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota during this economic downturn as a result of the unanticipated impact of the Novel Coronavirus outbreak, which has affected the global economy and CNMI tourism.

Lieutenant Governor David M. Apatang, together with Delbert T. Pua, Special Assistant for the Office of Youth Affairs, recently proclaimed October 2024 as Youth Empowerment Month. The proclamation was made in the presence of members of the Legislature, Cabinet officials, and community partners, all united in their commitment to improving the lives of our youth.
