Twenty-six child care providers participate in Emergency Preparedness and Response Planning Training

On Saturday, August 20, 2022, twenty-six child care providers from six child care centers across Saipan participated in a training on Emergency Preparedness and Response Planning for Natural Disaster and Human-caused Emergencies, conducted by Maricar I. Pena, Evergreen Learning’s Quality Care Specialist, at the Kagman Community Center.

During the two-and-a-half-hour professional development opportunity, participants were able to identify the new federal requirements and health and safety standards for emergency preparedness and planning, define the different kinds of emergencies, articulate the importance of planning, identify natural disasters and human-caused events that should be addressed in emergency plans by CNMI childcare providers, explore the six steps of emergency planning, apply the new federal standard requirement in the review and revision of their current emergency plan, and also identify the current content list of EPRRP.

This module meets the health and safety training requirement for the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) child care providers under the Child Care Development Block Grant (CCDBG) Reauthorization Act of 2014.
