Saipan and Tinian Remain Under Tropical Storm Watch
(CNMI Office of the Governor) – As of 12:00 pm, November 12, 2024, Governor Arnold I. Palacios, in consultation with the CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) and the National Weather Service – Guam (NWS Guam), has declared Tropical Storm Condition III for Rota.
Tropical Storm Condition III means that damaging winds are expected within 48 hours. Note the following advisories that are in effect:
- A tropical storm watch remains in effect for Tinian, Saipan, and the Northern Islands through late Wednesday night, November 13, 2024.
- A small craft advisory remains in effect for Tinian and Saipan until early Thursday, November 14, 2024.
- A rip current advisory remains in effect for Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through early Wednesday night, November 13, 2024.
As of 11:00am, Tropical Storm Man-yi is currently located 300 miles east-northeast of Guam and is moving west-southwest at eight (8) mph. Tropical Storm Man-yi currently has winds of 45 mph and is forecasted to intensify into a strong tropical storm with 60 mph winds as it moves near Guam Wednesday afternoon and night.
Residents are advised that a northward shift in the forecast track would position the tropical storm winds closer to Saipan and Tinian. Continue to monitor the forecast as any change could significantly alter the path, speed and strength of the storm. According NWS Guam, Tropical Storm Man-yi continues to have a small wind field and the effects will be felt closer to the center.

Again, the direction, speed, intensification rate, and other attributes of the storm may change over the next few hours. The CNMI Office of the Governor and CNMI HSEM will be monitoring the movement of the intensifying storm, continue to consult with the National Weather Service and other agencies, and continue to provide updates when available and when appropriate.
