Proclamation – National Library Outreach Day – April 6, 2022

WHEREAS, libraries everywhere play a vital role in supporting the quality of life in their communities;

WHEREAS, librarians are trained professionals, helping people of all ages and backgrounds find and interpret the information they need to live, learn, and work in a challenging economy;

WHEREAS, direct-delivery outreach services have played a vital role in fulfilling the mission of libraries, bringing the resources of libraries and the expertise of librarians directly to all kinds of communities – rural, urban, and suburban; 

WHEREAS, libraries and library workers provide more than just books, but a variety of resources and services that transform lives through education and lifelong learning; 

WHEREAS, libraries, librarians, library workers, and supporters across America are celebrating National Library Outreach Day during National Library Week;

WHEREAS, the day presents an opportunity to for library advocates to make their support known—through thanking library staff, writing a letter or e-mail to their libraries, or voicing their support to community leaders.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, RALPH DLG. TORRES, Governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Laws of the Commonwealth, do hereby proclaim April 6, 2022 as

NATIONAL LIBRARY OUTREACH DAY

I encourage all residents to visit your library’s website at www.cnmilib.org and social media, including Facebook, Instagram, Youtube @joetenkiyupubliclibrary, Twitter @joetenkiyu, and TikTok @jkpl670. Additionally, I encourage everyone to take advantage of the wonderful library resources available from the library, brought directly to you by innovative effortsBecause of you, Libraries Transform.

Empowering the Youth, Shaping the Future

Lieutenant Governor David M. Apatang, together with Delbert T. Pua, Special Assistant for the Office of Youth Affairs, recently proclaimed October 2024 as Youth Empowerment Month. The proclamation was made in the presence of members of the Legislature, Cabinet officials, and community partners, all united in their commitment to improving the lives of our youth.
