WHEREAS, libraries everywhere play a vital role in supporting the quality of life in their communities;
WHEREAS, librarians are trained professionals, helping people of all ages and backgrounds find and interpret the information they need to live, learn and work in a challenging economy;
WHEREAS, direct-delivery outreach services have played a vital role in fulfilling the mission of libraries, bringing the resources of libraries and the expertise of librarians directly to all kinds of communities – rural, urban and suburban;
WHEREAS, libraries and library workers provide more than just books, but a variety of resources and services that transform lives through education and lifelong learning;
WHEREAS, libraries, librarians, library workers and supporters across America are celebrating National Library Outreach Day during National Library Week;
WHEREAS, the day presents an opportunity to for library advocates to make their support known—through thanking library staff, writing a letter or e-mail to their libraries, or voicing their support to community leaders.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ARNOLD I. PALACIOS, Governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, AND, I, DAVID M. APATANG, Lt. Governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands by virtue of the authority vested in us by the Constitution and Laws of the Commonwealth, do hereby proclaim April 26, 2023 as
NATIONAL LIBRARY OUTREACH DAY
