Honoring our Veterans and their Families this November

Earlier this week, Governor Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Governor David M. Apatang proclaimed November 2023 as CNMI Veterans and Military Families Month, and the week of November 7-11, 2023, as CNMI Veteran’s Week. To emphasize the importance of the sacrifices that veterans and military families make, the proclamation serves as a reminder to continue to acknowledge, thank and honor veterans’ selfless service to our country.

Mayor from CNMI Sister City Katori Visits Saipan

Marking their return to Saipan since their last visit several years ago, the Katori Shrine Group (members of the Katori Shrine in Chiba, Japan) recently hosted the Saipan Katori Shrine Ceremony at the Sugar King Park in Garapan.

Remembering Civilian Lives that Perished in WWII

Last Friday, the 17th Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council hosted an In Memoriam ceremony in remembrance of the thousands of civilian Chamorro and Carolinian lives lost during the Battle of Saipan in 1944. With Governor Arnold I. Palacios, Lt. Governor David M. Apatang and other dignitaries and members of the community in attendance, floral wreaths were laid at the granite edifice at the American Memorial Park, which was erected in 2004, to honor the civilians who perished. Their names are engraved in the granite for all to see and to which all can pay their respects.

Pacific Healthcare Leaders Meet in the CNMI

Healthcare leaders and stakeholders continue to tackle healthcare issues in the Pacific. In his welcoming remarks at the 73rd Pacific Island Health Officers Association (PIHOA) Leadership Engagement at the Crowne Plaza’s Hibiscus Hall, Governor Arnold I. Palacios commended healthcare officials for their unwavering commitment to collaboratively improve healthcare systems across the Pacific region.

Honest Profit International Ltd. (HPIL) and Marriott International Inc. ink a management agreement for a brand new hotel in San Antonio that will be called the Saipan Marriott Resort & Spa. 

Public Advisory #3 – Water Services on Rota

(Saipan, CNMI) – The Commonwealth Utilities Corporation (CUC) would like to inform all customers on Rota that water services will not be shut down throughout the duration of the impending storm contrary to the notice issued earlier today. However, due to the turbidity caused by heavy rainfall, CUC will be issuing a “Precautionary Boil Water” notice later today advising the community to boil water before consumption.

Empowering the Youth, Shaping the Future

Lieutenant Governor David M. Apatang, together with Delbert T. Pua, Special Assistant for the Office of Youth Affairs, recently proclaimed October 2024 as Youth Empowerment Month. The proclamation was made in the presence of members of the Legislature, Cabinet officials, and community partners, all united in their commitment to improving the lives of our youth.
