Proclamation – CNMI Zero Waste Week – March 27, 2023 – April 2, 2023

WHEREAS, the Zero Waste International Alliance defines “Zero Waste” as the conservation of all resources by means of responsible production, consumption, reuse, and recovery of products, packaging and materials without burning and with no discharges to land, water, or air that threaten the environment or human health; and

DOL Expands Private-Public Partnerships in Registered Apprenticeship Programs

The U.S. Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship (USDOL OA) approved the CNMI’s first Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) in the Accommodation and Food Services Industry.  Naked Fish Bar & Grill received its certificate of authentication by USDOL affirming registration to the National Apprenticeship System their RAP for the occupation of Cook.  The company has started its registered apprenticeship program for one of their staff members to become a cook apprentice.

How to Promote your Business in the Military Market under the JRM MWR Quality of Life Program

The Saipan Chamber of Commerce (SCC) together with its collaborating partners the Commonwealth Bureau of Military Affairs (CBMA) and the Marianas Visitors Authority (MVA) are inviting the business community and the public to join us for a presentation by the Joint Region Marianas (JRM) Morale Welfare Recreation (MWR) as they share information on what the program is about and how businesses can promote and gain exposure within the Military Market. 

Energizing Insular Communities Energy Efficient/Energy Star Appliance Rebate Program (CNMI-EIC-EEESARP)

If you are a homeowner residing on Saipan, Tinian, or Rota and plan on replacing inefficient home appliances with ones that are Energy-efficient or Energy Star rated to save on your energy bill, you should contact the Energy Division Office at 670-664-4480/2 to verify if you are eligible to receive appliance rebate vouchers to help you defray the total cost of replacement appliances such as refrigerators, clothes washers, and or room air-conditioners. Certain conditions may apply.

Emergency Preparedness and Response Planning

On Saturday, March 04, 2023, Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) providers completed the virtual training on Emergency Preparedness and Recovery Planning. This training was facilitated by Evergreen Learning coach, Russelle Mae M. Ignacio, and was made possible through funding from the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Child Care, CNMI CCDF program under the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs.

PUA Applications Due Before March 27, 2023

The CNMI Department of Labor would like to notify the public that both Initial Applications and Weekly Certification Forms for the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) Program will no longer be accepted by the Department effective March 27, 2023.

Empowering the Youth, Shaping the Future

Lieutenant Governor David M. Apatang, together with Delbert T. Pua, Special Assistant for the Office of Youth Affairs, recently proclaimed October 2024 as Youth Empowerment Month. The proclamation was made in the presence of members of the Legislature, Cabinet officials, and community partners, all united in their commitment to improving the lives of our youth.
