CNMI’s Economic Recovery is Focus of Governor’s IGIA Presentation in D.C.

“My administration’s focus is, and has always been, on diversifying our economy and avoiding the CNMI’s historically untenable and unhealthy over-reliance on China,” Governor Arnold Palacios stressed to recently-confirmed U.S. Department of Interior Secretary Doug Burgum during his remarks yesterday at the plenary session of the Interagency Group on Insular Areas (IGIA), organized by the US Department of Interior.

The meeting was co-chaired by White House Director of Intergovernmental Affairs Alex Meyer, territorial governors, congressional representatives including U.S. Rep. Kimberly King-Hinds, and senior representatives from the White House and other federal agencies.

The presentation at the Department of Interior is part of Governor Palacios’

four-day series of high-level meetings in Washington D.C.
