Strengthening Coral Conservation at 49th USCRTF Meeting

Members of the U.S. Coral Reef Task Force (USCRTF) gathered in Saipan to exchange updates, research, and innovative strategies for coral reef conservation and management. During the USCRTF Business Meeting on November 14, attended by Guam Governor Lou Leon Guerrero, Governor Arnold Palacios made history by signing an executive order recognizing coral reefs as critical natural infrastructure. This groundbreaking move paves the way for their integration into the CNMI’s disaster preparedness, recovery, and mitigation plans.

Tropical Storm Upgraded to Condition II for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota

(CNMI Office of the Governor) – As of 5:00 pm, November 12, 2024, Governor Arnold I. Palacios, in consultation with the CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) and the National Weather Service – Guam (NWS Guam), has declared Tropical Storm Condition II for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.

Recognizing Pioneers in Humanities at the Governor’s Humanities Awards
