MEMORANDUM – Governor Torres grants administrative leave on Thursday, December 30, 2021 in the spirit of the holidays

As we are all well aware, this past year has been filled with many unique setbacks and challenges, not just for our Commonwealth but for the entire nation and the world.  Yet despite the hardships and inconveniences that we have endured, we are reminded that it is not the setbacks and challenges we face that define us as a people and community, but rather, our ability to adapt and overcome them.

Our Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation, the COVID-19 Task Force, and our government employees have championed our efforts to prevent, respond to, and contain the spread of COVID-19 in the Marianas.  Likewise, our community has diligently done their part to keep their loved ones and neighbors as safe as possible by getting vaccinated and abiding by the public health mandates and guidelines issued to control the outbreak in the islands.

I am proud of the work of our first responders and frontliners and in the resiliency of our community members during these unparalleled times. Moreover, I am hopeful for all that the new year may bring, for the past year has shown us that there is little we cannot accomplish when we all work together.

I take this opportunity to thank you all for your hard work and the many sacrifices you have made in service of our Commonwealth and the safety of our people. I ask that we all continue to protect and look out for one another during the rest of the holiday season and in the year to come.

In the spirit of the holidays, I am hereby authorizing all non-critical employees of the Commonwealth Government to take Administrative Leave on Thursday, December 30, 2021. On behalf of my family, staff, and entire administration, I wish you all a safe and prosperous New Year.

Sincerely,

/s/

RALPH DLG. TORRES
