This morning, Sunday, January 9th, 2022 at 9:00 a.m., Guam’s Lawrence C. Limtiaco became one of the youngest pilots to fly solo from Guam to Saipan at 16 years old.
Since the age of 12, Lawrence had a goal to fly planes in the U.S. military. Also a motocross racer and assistant commander of the second platoon NJROTC at Guam’s Father Duenas Memorial High School, Lawrence, a student pilot, embarked on the first of the four flights required to test for his private pilot license.
Governor Ralph DLG. Torres congratulates Lawrence on this achievement, “What Lawrence accomplished is an amazing feat. To fly solo from Guam to Saipan at such a young age is impressive. Lawrence is an inspiration to youth in the region who want to become pilots, and has proven that with ambition and hard work, that is possible. On behalf of the CNMI, we send our congratulations to you, as well as your proud parents, Larry and Jenn Limtiaco. We pray for your continuous safety and success as you embark on your future flights.”
Upon touchdown in Saipan in a Cessna 172P, Lawrence flew to Rota, and returned to Guam afterward to conclude his solo flight at 12:14 p.m. today. Lawrence will be making a second cross country solo flight on Saturday, January 15th, 2022 following the same route.
