MEMORANDUM – Closure of non-essential government offices for the next 14 days

Protecting the health and safety of our people has been the main priority during this COVID-19 pandemic, and I will continue to do everything I can to keep our community safe against this virus. Accordingly, I am hereby shutting down all non-essential government offices in the Commonwealth for the next 14 days from Monday, December 6, 2021 through Sunday, December 19, 2021.

All non-essential government employees of the Commonwealth’s departments and agencies are advised to stay home for the next 14 days.

In order to ensure the continuity of public services, I am directing all department and activity heads to facilitate teleworking and timekeeping within their offices, divisions, and agencies during this government stay-at-home order. Department and activity heads must communicate with their respective employees about this transition.

Non-essential government employees are instructed to telework for the next 14 days. This decision is made to minimize further transmission of COVID-19 and to protect the overall well-being of all employees. Employees are encouraged to seek guidance from your respective supervisors about reporting, timesheets, and other requirements while offices remain close.

Certain essential government offices will be open to the public on a limited basis. This includes the Division of Revenue and Taxation and the CNMI Treasury. Essential services involved in law enforcement, public safety, and public health will continue to fully operate. Announcements will be made regarding other public services.

This is an evolving situation, and we will continue to provide updates moving forward. Thank you for your cooperation. Please stay safe and practice the 3Ws.
