Governor Arnold I. Palacios welcomed representatives from Google, SubCom, and NEC to discuss updates on the Pacific Connect Initiative and the upcoming submarine cable landing in the CNMI
The team is in the Marianas to conduct site assessments and meet with local stakeholders as part of efforts to strengthen digital infrastructure across the Pacific. The CNMI and Guam will serve as key nodes in this initiative, with the PROA Cable from Japan set to land in early 2026.
Governor Palacios emphasized the importance of this milestone, calling it a major step toward a more connected and resilient future for the islands.
