Today, the CNMI Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) Special Assistant Dennis Mendiola led a delegation that met with Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) officials to discuss modernization initiatives in addition to exploring opportunities for enhanced partnership agreements between the CNMI and Guam.

“This partnership is important to better protect our residents and homeland against threats as well as how to best recover from manmade or natural disasters. I want to thank and build upon the work of my predecessor, former HSEM Special Assistant Gerald Guerrero. He set a solid foundation for the Commonwealth with the One Marianas approach to protecting our homeland under the direction of Governor Torres these past years,” says HSEM Special Assistant Dennis Mendiola.

Newly appointed HSEM Special Assistant Dennis Mendiola aims to modernize emergency communications throughout the Marianas to improve the HSEM effort to combat terrorism and targeted violence, enhance cybersecurity, secure ports of entry, and ensuring disaster readiness.

“We are grateful our partnerships with our closest neighbors remain strong and we stand ready to support one another. I look forward to collaborating further on projects such as this, and more,” says Guam Homeland Security Advisor Samantha Brennan.
