Celebrating Fire Prevention Week

Governor Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Governor David M. Apatang officially proclaimed the week of October 6–12, 2024, as Fire Prevention Week. The event was attended by Commissioner of the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services (DFEMS) Juan A. Pua, representatives from the American Red Cross – NMI Chapter, members of the Commonwealth Cancer Association, and local firefighters.

Governor Palacios commended the tireless efforts of DFEMS and the American Red Cross in protecting the community from preventable disasters. He stressed that while advanced fire prevention systems are becoming more accessible, it takes consistent human diligence to ensure they are properly inspected, maintained, and functioning at their best.

Lt. Governor Apatang echoed these sentiments, adding that outreach efforts should prioritize vulnerable groups, including the Man’amko and individuals with special needs, to ensure their safety is not overlooked.
