Statement from Chief of Staff Wil Castro regarding the BOOST Program

The CNMI Office of the Governor Chief of Staff William M. Castro on Friday met with the members of the 22nd House of Representatives’ Committee on Ways and Means and Judiciary and Governmental Operations during their Joint Committee Meeting on the Building Optimism, Opportunities and Stability Together (BOOST) Program.

“The BOOST Program is an initiative designed to revitalize the economy by providing federal relief funds to small businesses and non-profit organizations as well as fishers, farmers, and ranchers throughout the Commonwealth,” said Chief of Staff Castro. 

“This program has directly benefited hundreds of companies and has directly impacted thousands of lives.”

Regarding the funding source of the BOOST program, Chief of Staff Castro said the following, “The source of funding is the American Rescue Plan Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds, otherwise known as ARPA-CSLFRF.”

When asked about his job in relation to the BOOST Program, Chief of Staff Castro said he is a member of the review panel, “My job as I understand it to be is to review the submissions, or applications, and to confer with my colleagues on the review panel to make a recommendation of a list of applicants for review and approval by the Governor.”
