Statement by Governor Torres on CNMI Constitution Day

Governor Ralph DLG. Torres on Tuesday issued the following statement:

“This December 8th, we celebrate Constitution Day and the continued progress we have made as a Commonwealth in political union with the United States.”

“In addition, we also celebrate our islands’ annual Catholic tradition of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.”

“Over four decades ago, 39 leaders convened to develop the foundation of our government, beginning with words of our preamble, ‘We the People of the Northern Mariana Islands.’ In the present day, the Commonwealth Constitution remains the ‘embodiment of our traditions and hopes,’ especially as we continue to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic, work to upgrade our infrastructure, increase educational opportunities for our students, and revitalize our economy.”

“I wish everyone in the CNMI a happy and safe Constitution Day.”
