US and CNMI Flags Lowered to Half-Staff in Honor of the Life and Memory of Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

PROCLAMATION

BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE

COMMONWEALTH OF THE NORTHERN MARIANA ISLANDS

We join the Nation in mourning the loss of Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg— a trailblazer, not only within the law profession, but in the history of the United States, and for women everywhere. In her 27 years as an Associate Justice on our country’s highest court, she demonstrated powerful and respectful arguments that brought about greater equality for women and the disabled. She was a fighter to the very end, conducting her duties on the Supreme Court with class while battling cancer. She serves as an inspiration and role model for women everywhere, and her legacy to our laws and our country will never be forgotten.

As a mark of respect for the life and service of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, President Donald J. Trump ordered that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff immediately at all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, on the day of interment.

By the authority vested in me as Governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, I also direct that the flag of the Commonwealth be flown at half-staff immediately for the same period of time until sunset, on the day of interment.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand on this

19th day of September, 2020.
