CNMI transitioning to next phase of community-based testing
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, antimicrobial pesticides are essential to controlling and preventing the spread of the coronavirus. BECQ’s Pesticides Branch along with partnering agencies Department of Lands and Natural Resources, and Division of Customs, monitors and regulates the use and import of pesticides in the CNMI. Antimicrobials and pesticides that are not registered by U.S. EPA are illegal to import, sell, and use in the CNMI.
BECQ has observed an increasing amount of trash and debris on remote beach sites and beaches located on the east side of the island. BECQ is pleading to the community to please clean up before and after utilizing a beach site. Trash in our ocean is a serious problem that threatens the marine environment and dependent livelihoods.
