Public Notice: Antimicrobial Pesticides

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, antimicrobial pesticides are essential to controlling and preventing the spread of the coronavirus. BECQ’s Pesticides Branch along with partnering agencies Department of Lands and Natural Resources, and Division of Customs, monitors and regulates the use and import of pesticides in the CNMI. Antimicrobials and pesticides that are not registered by U.S. EPA are illegal to import, sell, and use in the CNMI. 

Public Notice: Litter Control

BECQ has observed an increasing amount of trash and debris on remote beach sites and beaches located on the east side of the island. BECQ is pleading to the community to please clean up before and after utilizing a beach site. Trash in our ocean is a serious problem that threatens the marine environment and dependent livelihoods. 

DCRM encourages community to participate in Living Archive competition

The Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality, Division of Coastal Resources Management (DCRM) would like to announce an opportunity for the general public to participate in a series of competitions hosted by The Living Archive, an organization based out of Australia that provides a platform for individuals to tell stories and raise awareness about extinction in their communities.

Commerce to begin 2020 CNMI Prevailing Wage Study (2020 PWS) Survey

Governor Ralph DLG. Torres and Lt. Governor Arnold I. Palacios, through the Department of Commerce’s Central Statistics Division announce the beginning of data collection for the 2020 CNMI Prevailing Wage Study (PWS), utilizing an online data collection portal system.

The Governor’s COVID-19 Task Force and the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation (CHCC) would like to inform the public that two (2) additional persons have been confirmed to have contracted COVID-19, bringing CNMI’s cumulative case count to 30.

Lieutenant Governor David M. Apatang, together with Delbert T. Pua, Special Assistant for the Office of Youth Affairs, recently proclaimed October 2024 as Youth Empowerment Month. The proclamation was made in the presence of members of the Legislature, Cabinet officials, and community partners, all united in their commitment to improving the lives of our youth.
