The Governor’s COVID-19 Task Force and the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation (CHCC) announced on Monday, August 10, 2020, that one (1) individual has been confirmed positive for COVID-19, bringing CNMI’s current case count to 49 since March 28, 2020.

CNMI DOL issues notice regarding the definition of “Qualified Alien”

Over the weekend, the CNMI Department of Labor (CNMI DOL) reiterated federal guidance from the US Department of Labor (USDOL) regarding the definition of a “Qualified Alien” and other eligibility guidance regarding the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) and the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) programs.

COVID-19 Public Guidance – Business hours modified; Social gatherings at public beaches now allowed; Curfew hours modified

In line with approved guidance by the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation (CHCC) and due to the continued success of preventative measures at the border by the Governor’s COVID-19 Task Force, Governor Ralph DLG. Torres announced on Wednesday that the CNMI COVID-19 Emergency Directives are amended to allow businesses to open from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m., allow for social gatherings at public beaches, and to modify curfew hours to 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.

CNMI Cannabis Commission launches

With the publishing of the certification and adoption of proposed rules and regulations of the CNMI Cannabis Commission (Commission), the Commission announces the official launching of applications for the commercial Cannabis Licenses and noncommercial Homegrown Marijuana Registry.

CNMI receives $274,635 for mortgage assistance

Governor Ralph DLG. Torres and Lt. Governor Arnold I. Palacios, through the Northern Marianas Housing Corporation (NMHC), announce that the CNMI has been allocated $274,635 for Community Emergency Housing Assistance by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the Community Development Block Grant CARES Act fund (CDBG-CV).
