Labor announces requirement to conduct work searches for PUA applicants

In accordance with federal regulations from the US Department of Labor (USDOL), the CNMI Department of Labor (CNMI DOL) will begin requiring all Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) claimants to conduct three (3) work searches and maintain a log of all work search contacts consistent with Hawaii law starting August 1, 2021 through the end of the program on September 4, 2021.

CNMI moves to Community Vulnerability Level Green

The Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation (CHCC) and the Governor’s COVID-19 Task Force announced that the CNMI will move to Community Vulnerability Level GREEN beginning Friday, June 18, 2021. 

Quarantine protocols eased for those traveling to the CNMI and are fully vaccinated; new CDC guidance shows more fully vaccinated individuals in the CNMI will lead to an easing of COVID-19 restrictions

The Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation (CHCC) and the Governor’s COVID-19 Task Force announces new quarantine protocols: Effective May 17, 2021, fully vaccinated travelers coming in from Level 1 jurisdictions on the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Travel Health Notice list do not have to quarantine in any form, after providing verifiable vaccination documentation from their respective health department or health provider and after their lodging or household passes assessment. If household assessment failed, travelers will be given the option to self-monitor at home. Travelers from Level 1 jurisdictions also do not have to test upon arrival but will be tested on the fifth day after arrival.

DRT planning for advanced payments of the Expanded Child Tax Credit

The Department of Finance, Division of Revenue and Taxation (DRT) would like to notify the general public that the implementation plan for the Expanded Child Tax Credit for 2021 pursuant to the American Rescue Plan is currently being developed for a target issuance by July 2021.

CNMI Receives $88.7M FEMA Community Disaster Loan

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approved a $88.7 million low-interest Community Disaster Loan (CDL) to provide the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) operational funding to continue to function after the substantial revenue loss caused by multiple disasters in the Pacific.
