CNMI Fisheries Relief Round Two Applications Available Soon

The CNMI CARES-Act Fisheries Working Group, composed of members from the Division of Fish & Wildlife, the Department of Lands and Natural Resources (DLNR), and the Office of Grants Management & State Clearinghouse (OGM-SC) under the Office of the Governor, is pleased to announce that a second round of relief assistance will be made available to the general fishing communities of Saipan, Tinian, and Rota. A total of $411,002 was awarded to the CNMI from the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021. The funding will support activities previously authorized under Sec. 12005 of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). This funding was allocated to states and territories with coastal and marine fishery participants who have been negatively affected by COVID-19. 

CNMI Division of Energy launches Energizing Insular Communities Energy Star Appliance Rebate Program (CNMI-EIC-EE/ESARP) for Tinian

The CNMI Energy Division Office is pleased to announce the launching of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands – Energizing Insular Communities – Energy Efficient/Energy Star Appliance Rebate Program (CNMI-EIC-EE/ESARP) for the 2nd Year, to assist interested residents in lowering their home’s energy use and cost of utilities by offering appliance rebate vouchers, as a financial incentive, to redeem at participating local vendors or retailers to receive an in-store instant rebate, for the replacement of old in-efficient appliances with qualified, Energy-Efficient/Energy Star rated products.  Due to funding limitations, the number of rebate vouchers are limited and will be available on a first-come first-served basis, until funds run out, for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota residents. 

Child Care Providers participate in Health and Safety Training

On May 7, 2022, eight participants from three childcare centers on Saipan welcomed the month of May with another set of health and safety training sessions conducted by Evergreen Learning Quality Care Specialist, Mrs. Maricar I. Pena, at Evergreen Learning training center, in Chalan Kanoa, Saipan. The two training sessions, each two hours long, were on Precaution in Transporting Children and Building and Physical premises safety.

Child Care Providers participate in Procedures for Pre-registration and Professional Development Tracker Training

On April 30, 2022, 19 administrative personnel from the CNMI Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) certified childcare programs in Saipan participated in two sessions of a training entitled, “Updated Method and Procedure for Pre-registration and Professional Development (PD) Tracker.” The training was conducted by Evergreen Learning’s Program Support Specialist, Ms. Ma. Ceilene B. Matavia at the Evergreen Learning Training Center in Chalan Kanoa. Each session lasted two and half hours and provided participants time to apply and practice the new pre-registration format and PD tracker pivot table. 

CNMI Public School System (PSS) to conduct Tsunami Drill on Tuesday, May 10, 2022

The CNMI Public School System (PSS) in collaboration with the Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HSEM), the Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services (DFEMS) will be conducting a tsunami preparedness exercise drill on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 09:00am for three public schools simultaneously – Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School, Admiral Herbert G. Hopwood Middle School, and Francisco M. Sablan Middle School.

Empowering the Youth, Shaping the Future

Lieutenant Governor David M. Apatang, together with Delbert T. Pua, Special Assistant for the Office of Youth Affairs, recently proclaimed October 2024 as Youth Empowerment Month. The proclamation was made in the presence of members of the Legislature, Cabinet officials, and community partners, all united in their commitment to improving the lives of our youth.
