Top US DOI OIA Official Praises Torres Administration

Today, Governor Ralph DLG. Torres met with U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) Office of Insular Affairs (OIA) Director of Policy, Mr. Basil Ottley, to discuss the CNMI’s current state of recovery after natural disasters, the global pandemic, and opportunities for growth of the CNMI’s economy and conservation of environments.

Child Care Providers and Directors attend CCDF, QRIS Orientation

On June 9, 2022, sixteen child care providers and directors from Saipan, and one from Tinian, attended a remote orientation on the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) Program, Quality Rating Scale and Improvement System (QRIS) and Coaching. The orientation was one hour and thirty minutes and was conducted by Evergreen Learning coaches Erlaine DLG Evangelista and Russelle Mae Ignacio.

CCDF CNMI Brain Builders Café promotes Science of Early Learning Initiative

On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, the Science of Early Learning (SOEL)-CNMI Brain Builders™ Team from Evergreen Learning, conducted its third CNMI Brain Builders Café with parents and community members. The CNMI Brain Builders™ Café provides parents and community members an opportunity to obtain information about the Child Care Development Fund (CCDF) Program, Science of Early Learning Initiative.

Torres extends his deepest gratitude and appreciation to the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation (CHCC), the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the Commonwealth Ports Authority (CPA) for their collaboration in ensuring Lt. Governor Arnold I. Palacios was timely and safely transported to Hawaii for medical treatment after the incident during his testimony at the Guma’ Hustisia this past Tuesday.

Governor Torres announces $2 million from LWCF for outdoor recreation projects

Governor Ralph DLG. Torres announced on Friday that the U.S. Department of the Interior Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) State and Local Assistance Program has apportioned $2,010,009 for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) for priority outdoor recreation projects benefiting the community.

Department of Labor to conduct Apprenticeship Workshop

The CNMI Department of Labor will be hosting a workshop on “Constructing Apprenticeship Programs” primarily for the construction and trades industry. The goal of the workshop is to provide information on how a registered apprenticeship program works, the benefits to employers and employees, incentives to employers, and free technical assistance. The workshop features the Apprenticeship State Expansion Program (ASE), which is an opportunity for employers to invest in their current employees with minimal to no cost to their business.

Empowering the Youth, Shaping the Future

Lieutenant Governor David M. Apatang, together with Delbert T. Pua, Special Assistant for the Office of Youth Affairs, recently proclaimed October 2024 as Youth Empowerment Month. The proclamation was made in the presence of members of the Legislature, Cabinet officials, and community partners, all united in their commitment to improving the lives of our youth.
