Governor Torres Accepts MMA Champion’s Call to Live, Lead Fit

Governor Ralph DLG. Torres is taking mixed martial arts champion Frank “The Crank” Camacho’s challenge, which he had posted on social media last week.

“When I embarked on this fitness journey, I decided that I wanted to lengthen my physical presence with my family, especially my children. They are my motivation,” said Governor Torres.

Recently, Camacho, an Ultimate Fighting Championship warrior, lauded the chief executive’s decision to improve his health through diet and physical activity.

“I don’t really follow politics… but this right here is something I fully stand behind,” Camacho said, adding, “It’s such a powerful message that is finally being addressed at the highest level.”

Governor Torres, well into his first full week of living a healthier lifestyle, was moved by Camacho’s video, “I wholeheartedly thank Frank. He is a role model to so many people, young and old, of varying fitness levels, and of all walks of life. His influence in all things positive is far reaching, and that is something to be admired.”

With this renewed inspiration in tow, Governor Torres is even more determined to live a healthier life with his family and for the people of the Marianas, “This is not a competition, and I am not at all offended by Frank’s challenge. I recognize that I have work to do to improve my health. In fact, I am so moved by his challenge that I will be asking him to create a regimen that will get me to where I need to be, and one that will allow me more time with my family and our amazing community.”

Governor Torres intends to share his progress with the people of the Commonwealth on a routine basis, and he is hopeful that residents will catch the spirit and resolve to live healthier lifestyles for their loved ones.

“Having COVID-19 reinforced in me the importance and benefits of a healthier lifestyle, which helps prevent serious illnesses and diseases. The hardest part of attaining any goal is getting started. I am fresh into this journey, and I encourage everyone – including my family, friends, and Cabinet – to join me. This is only the beginning of many opportunities for our community to come together, lift each other up, and help each other out,” said Governor Torres.
