CNMI DOL releases more than $3.5 million in unemployment benefits

The CNMI Department of Labor (CNMI DOL) announced on Thursday that $3,530,191 in Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) and Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) have been disbursed to eligible and approved claimants, as of Wednesday, July 22, 2020.

Benefits Processing

All PUA/FPUC claims are processed in the order they were received. If all eligibility requirements are met and no disqualification is in effect, claims are batched for processing. CNMI DOL and the CNMI Department of Finance are working in tandem to ensure benefits payments are disbursed on a daily basis.

Benefits Disbursements

Depending on the nature of how claimants would like to receive their payments, disbursements can be made out within 1-2 business days (via direct deposit) or 7-10 calendar days (via mailed check).  CNMI DOL highly encourages claimants to opt for direct deposit payments when applying for PUA/FPUC.

Important Note

CNMI DOL would like to remind the general public that all information regarding its programs and unemployment assistance is vetted for accuracy before transmittal to the CNMI Office of the Governor.

Please continue to follow updates from CNMI DOL through local media partners and through the CNMI Office of the Governor’s Facebook page and website at www.governor.gov.mp.

CNMI DOL is an equal opportunity employer/program and auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities. Visit CNMI DOL’s website at www.marianaslabor.net for more PUA/FPUC-related information.
