CNMI Public School System (PSS) to conduct Tsunami Drill on Tuesday, May 10, 2022

The CNMI Public School System (PSS) in collaboration with the Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management (HSEM), the Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services (DFEMS) will be conducting a tsunami preparedness exercise drill on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at 09:00am for three public schools simultaneously â€“ Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School, Admiral Herbert G. Hopwood Middle School, and Francisco M. Sablan Middle School.

CNMI Homeland Security Special Assistant Dennis Mendiola meets with Guam counterparts to discuss modernization and partnership efforts

Today, the CNMI Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) Special Assistant Dennis Mendiola led a delegation that met with Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense (GHS/OCD) officials to discuss modernization initiatives in addition to exploring opportunities for enhanced partnership agreements between the CNMI and Guam. 

Childcare Providers Attend Administration of Medication Training

On April 23, 2022, childcare providers under the CNMI Child Care & Development Fund (CCDF) attended a training on the Administration of Medication, consistent with standards for parental consent, conducted by Evergreen Learning Quality Care Specialist Maricar I. Deseo. This module meets the health and safety training requirement for CCDF childcare providers under the Child Care Development Block Grant Reauthorization Act of 2014. The training was held at Evergreen Learning’s training center in Chalan Kanoa. 

Proclamation – Marianas Tourism Month – May 2022

WHEREAS, Tourism is the primary economic driver for The Marianas, comprising about three-fourths of the entire economy.  Due to the pandemic, in FY 2021, only about 5,000 total visitors came to The Marianas.  So far, this fiscal year, approximately 18,000 visitors have come to our shores as tourism begins to slowly recover under the Tourism Investment Resumption Plan – or TRIP – led by the Marianas Visitors Authority in cooperation with public and private partners.

Empowering the Youth, Shaping the Future

Lieutenant Governor David M. Apatang, together with Delbert T. Pua, Special Assistant for the Office of Youth Affairs, recently proclaimed October 2024 as Youth Empowerment Month. The proclamation was made in the presence of members of the Legislature, Cabinet officials, and community partners, all united in their commitment to improving the lives of our youth.
