COTA awarded $800k from FTA for ferry feasibility study and transportation master plan

On Friday, June 17, 2022, The Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority (COTA) under the CNMI Office of the Governor was awarded $800,000.00 in competitive grant funds under the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT): Federal Transit Administration (FTA) –The Areas of Persistent Poverty Program, to develop a sustainable transportation master plan and conduct an independent ferry feasibility study for the Northern Mariana Islands.  The 20- year Sustainable Transportation Master Plan will create multi-modal and intra/inter-island transportation options.   

Child care providers participate in emergency and hazard prevention and response trainings

On June 18, 2022, eight participants from a child care center on Saipan participated in two-hour training sessions on the following required health and safety training topics: prevention of and response to emergencies due to food and allergic reactions and handling and storage of hazardous materials and appropriate disposal of bio-contaminants. The trainings were conducted by Evergreen Learning’s Quality Care Specialist, Maricar I. Pena, at the Evergreen Learning Training Center in Chalan Kanoa.

Youth Affairs Office announces 2022 Summer Youth Program & 2022 Governor’s Summer Youth Employment Program

The Youth Affairs Office under the CNMI Office of the Governor would like to announce that our department will be having a Summer Youth Program and Summer Youth Employment Program from July 6, 2022 to August 19, 2022. The goal of the Youth Affairs Office is to stay actively committed to ensuring our children and youth receive positive development and quality education during school and out of school time; focusing on education, career readiness, health, civic participation, youth talent, leadership, and general life skills to ensure their success in their overall growth.

Acting Governor declares state of emergency for Tinian

Acting Governor Jude U. Hofschneider on Thursday signed Executive Order No. 2022-09, declaring a major disaster and state of significant emergency arising from the burning of the super typhoon waste and debris site on the island of Tinian.

The CNMI Energy Division Office would like to inform all Recipients of the Appliance Rebate Voucher Program that, due to unforeseen situations preventing full participation by Triple J as a participating Retailer/Vendor, effective immediately, Triple J Saipan Store will no longer be accepting rebate vouchers on Saipan under the CNMI-EIC-EE/ESARP, until further notice.

Lieutenant Governor David M. Apatang, together with Delbert T. Pua, Special Assistant for the Office of Youth Affairs, recently proclaimed October 2024 as Youth Empowerment Month. The proclamation was made in the presence of members of the Legislature, Cabinet officials, and community partners, all united in their commitment to improving the lives of our youth.
