MEMORANDUM – Governor Torres grants administrative leave for all non-critical Commonwealth employees in the spirit of the holiday season

As Christmas day draws near, we take the opportunity to reflect upon the gifts we are most grateful for with the ones we love and cherish most. The holiday season brings forth the best of what the Commonwealth and its people have to offer, for it is time of rejoicing with family and friends, spreading goodwill to our neighbors, and giving thanks for all our blessings, big and small.

Although the past year has presented us with many unprecedented challenges, we remain a community committed to taking care of one another and doing our part to keep each other safe. For this reason, I wish to extend my sincerest gratitude once again, to all our doctors, nurses, first responders, COVID-19 Task Force, and government employees who have sacrificed their own safety and wellbeing in the service of others.

I also wish to thank each and every one of you for the cooperation and care you have shown in abiding by the directives and guidelines set forth by my office, the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation (CHCC) and the Task Force in response to the pandemic. I am proud to announce that as of today, we have achieved a vaccination rate of 92.5% for all eligible residents in the CNMI. This could not have been accomplished without your proactiveness, assistance, and support.

In the spirit of the holiday season, I am hereby authorizing all non-critical employees of the Commonwealth Government to take Administrative Leave on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 12:00 p.m.

As this year comes to a close, let us be reminded that despite our differences, we remain united in the love we share for our islands. May we continue to work together towards a stronger, more prosperous Marianas for all. On behalf of my family, staff, and our entire administration, I wish you and your families, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Please continue to keep safe.

Sincerely,

/s/

RALPH DLG. TORRES
