Childcare Providers Attend Administration of Medication Training

On April 23, 2022, childcare providers under the CNMI Child Care & Development Fund (CCDF) attended a training on the Administration of Medication, consistent with standards for parental consent, conducted by Evergreen Learning Quality Care Specialist Maricar I. Deseo. This module meets the health and safety training requirement for CCDF childcare providers under the Child Care Development Block Grant Reauthorization Act of 2014. The training was held at Evergreen Learning’s training center in Chalan Kanoa.

This two-hour professional development opportunity addressed standards from the CNMI Child Care Licensing administrative code and Caring for Our Children, 3rd Edition, that apply to safely administering medication in childcare. Participants explored best practices for receiving, storing, and administering medication; identified the 5 Rights of administering medication; assessed their program’s current policies and regulations; and drafted next steps for complying with best practices for the safe administration of medication. Nine participants from four centers on Saipan participated in the training. In addition, samples of forms and procedures/ policies were provided as a resource.
