Rice distribution set for tomorrow, November 3, 2022

The CNMI Office of the Governor, through the Office of Grants Management and State Clearinghouse (OGM-SC), will be giving out 50 pounds of short or long grain rice sacks this Thursday, November 3, 2022 in a drive-thru event for Saipan residential households.

The food security outreach program will be held at the following locations listed below from 8:30 a.m to 4:30 p.m.:

1.    Koblerville Youth Center

2.    Garapan Fishing Base

3.    Kagman Community Center

About 1,000 to 1,250 sacks of 50 lbs rice will be given out per location.

To avail a sack of rice, residential homeowners must present a photocopy of a valid government-issued identification card and submit a hard copy of their most recent Commonwealth Utilities Corporation (CUC) utility billing. Digital copies or electronic formats will not be accepted. There is a limit of one sack of rice per CUC utility billing. The photocopies of the CUC billings collected will not be returned. Sub-metered households are allowed, but these residents should submit a photocopy of the master CUC meter account bill. Furthermore, the Office of Grants & State Clearinghouse will be tracking CUC account numbers to prevent repeats.

The public is advised to have all documents ready, expect traffic congestion, have enough space in your vehicle for the rice, and to extend courtesy and patience to others while waiting in the drive-thru event. No walk-ins will be entertained for this event.

With limited supply for this event, items will be available for distribution on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the specified time only, while supplies last.

Due to the continuing threat of COVID-19, the public is required to observe and comply with health and safety protocols. Masks are required at all times during the program event hours of operations. All vehicle operators and passengers must remain in their vehicles at all times and must follow all posted event signs and obey all event traffic flow signs.

Five-hundred rice vouchers will be available at a first-come, first-serve basis to walk-ins who apply at the Office of Grants Management & State Clearinghouse on Monday, November 7, 2022. The rice voucher can only be used at New XO Market at Middle Road, Saipan with a validity date of November 9, 2022 to November 30,  2022. To avail a rice voucher the same requirements apply: residential homeowners must submit a photocopy of a valid government-issued identification card and submit a photocopy of their most recent Commonwealth Utilities Corporation utility billing.
