Girl Scout Week

March 6-12, 2022

WHEREAS,   March 12, 2022, is the 110th Anniversary of the founding of the Girl Scouts of the USA, the largest voluntary organization in the world for girls; and

WHEREAS,   Girls Scouts is a vital organization for girls who are growing up, enabling them to develop self-esteem and leadership skills, and providing an atmosphere of  warm and true friendship; and

WHEREAS, the Girl Scout program not only reflects the enduring values and standards that have been part of an organization since 1912, but also lends itself to the special and unique situation of girls in the new millennium; and

WHEREAS, the Girl Scout program has been a channel for girls of all ages to make important contributions to their communities, including here in our islands in the Commonwealth.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, RALPH DLG. TORRES, Governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Laws of the Commonwealth, do hereby proclaim March 2022 as

GIRL SCOUT MONTH

and the week of March 6-12, 2022 as 

GIRL SCOUT WEEK

I encourage everyone to support in every way the activities and endeavors of the NMI Girl Scouts. With a mission to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place, let us celebrate their accomplishments and continue to empower our young daughters to become strong, independent women ready to lead our Commonwealth.

Empowering the Youth, Shaping the Future

Lieutenant Governor David M. Apatang, together with Delbert T. Pua, Special Assistant for the Office of Youth Affairs, recently proclaimed October 2024 as Youth Empowerment Month. The proclamation was made in the presence of members of the Legislature, Cabinet officials, and community partners, all united in their commitment to improving the lives of our youth.
