CNMI DOL offers free MSHA workshop on Friday, September 10, 2021

The CNMI Department of Labor (DOL) will be conducting a free Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Workshop on Friday, September 10, 2021.

The MSHA workshop will be held at the World Resort Saipan, Sunflower Hall.  Registration will start at 8:00 a.m. and the workshop will begin from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Topics to be presented during the MSHA workshop include Surface Mine Equipment Safety, Emergency Procedures, Working with Chemicals, Electrical Hazards, and more.

The Department of Labor is encouraging the participation of construction companies, rock quarry operators and general construction businesses.

Mr. William Shippey, CSE, CSM, president/CEO of Omega Safety Compliance, will be conducting the workshop on Friday, September 10, 2021.  Mr. Shippey is also the Senior Instructor of Omega Safety Compliance, and manages and directs training, Course Development, Inspections and Regulatory Compliance, and consults numerous Construction, General Industry and Longshoring and Marine Terminal Companies on Guam and the CNMI.  He is the Director of Safety and Health for various companies on Guam and Saipan and is a Certified Safety Engineer.

In order to adhere to health and safety protocols, all workshop participants will be required to have a temperature reading and pertinent contact information will be taken upon entry.  All participants are also required to wear a face mask, observe social distancing and to use the hand sanitizers available at the workshop venue.
