Governor Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Governor David M. Apatang have proclaimed April as Oral Cancer Awareness Month. During the proclamation, he was joined by representatives of the Commonwealth Cancer Association, who highlighted the importance of maintaining healthy oral hygiene as oral cancer is the third most common type of cancer in the CNMI.
Governor Palacios emphasized the importance of assuming control over harmful practices such as betel nut and tobacco use, educating our youth, prioritizing regular screenings, and utilizing this month as an opportunity to impact oral cancer prevention. Lt. Governor Apatang underscored the significance of not only advocating healthy behaviors but also maintaining the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of our island for both residents and visiting tourists.
